SOMEWHERE PROPERLY LUBRICATED (TL) -- From Dallas Morning News' editorial blogger Tod Robberson:
Rodger and I have engaged in some spirited debates on this topic. The president agrees with Rodger that it's time to lift the executive ban on offshore drilling.
I'm thrilled, because I've been worried about finding new ways for the oil companies to sell oil to China and India. They have growing, insatiable needs for energy. China's government buys its oil at high international rates and sells it cheaply to its citizens to help feed their demand and to indirectly subsidize Chinese industry so they can undercut U.S. and other world manufacturers. It's important that we find more American oil so we can sell it to China. (FYI, the U.S. exports 1.48 million barrels of oil a day, according to the CIA World Factbook.)
Besides, if China and India don't have adequate supplies of fossil fuels, they run a serious risk of not having enough carbon particulates to pollute their air. It's important that the president act now to ensure that China and India meet their energy-consumption and pollution needs for the next decade or more. I'm sure our oil companies will do their part to meet this important challenge.

Look who's telling us to drill now:
